The Alpine Triple Crown
A mountaineering challenge to benefit the Gallatin Valley Rescue Mission.
Our next fundraiser has begun! This time we are attempting a local climbing challenge to raise money for a very important local cause, the Gallatin Valley Homeless Shelter, run by Paul Thomas. On August 13th, 14th, and 15th, ACC is going to attempt to climb three of the longest and hardest alpine climbs in the Bozeman area, in three days, back to back! To our knowledge, these three peaks have never been climbed before in a 72 hour period. It will be over 70 miles of trail and rock, and over 20,000ft of elevation gain! It is going to be intense. The peaks, in order are Granite Peak, Cowen Peak, and the Grand Teton.
There will be three to five teams of three climbers each taking part in the challenge. Each team will be supported by a crew of two people to drive for them, cook for them, provide water on the lower trail, etc. In order to participate, each team must attempt to raise at least $3,000, 100% of which will go to the Gallatin Valley Rescue Mission. The Rescue Mission is in the process of being finished and they are hoping to be in operation in the next few months. The money that we raise will go towards the many operating costs of the shelter as it opens and embarks on a mission to provide Food, clothing, shelter, training, and teaching through the life changing message of God’s Love revealed in Jesus Christ (hissoup.org)
The Climb for Darfur, Ecuador Expedition 2008
Our Christmas Expedition to Ecuador exceeded all our expectations and successfully raised almost $25,000 for World Vision and their aid efforts in Darfur, Sudan. We summated peaks over 15,000ft over seven times, climbed in wind, rain, and snow, had countless adventures and made lots of friends. Last month, a 7 minute Documentary on our adventures and our fundraising was finished by Sarah Drinkard and can be viewed here on this website. It is an awesome summary of what ACC has accomplished so far. Thank you all for your support, your prayers, donations, etc. Also a huge thanks to Mystery Ranch Packs, Barrel Mountaineering, and Northern Lights Trading Co. for their support with gear. They made the whole thing possible!
